You missed an opportunity: saute the shrimp with garlic, then use the same skillet to make your sauce. That spreads the shrimpy goodness all through the sauce and makes for a richer taste.

ā€œToo much garlic! Garlic everywhere,ā€œIt makes me want to cry,ā€
Garlic, you see, is not quite the staple of Italian cuisine Americans think it is. Depending on who you speak to, onions are a controversial ingredient too ā€“ and donā€™t even think of ever combining the two in a single dish.
ā€œFettuccine Alfredo are not a thing in Italy,ā€
In the US it has become a staple in many restaurants that brand themselves Italian.
In Italy, the dish is most similar to what Italians call pasta burro e Parmiggiano (pasta with butter and parmesan cheese).
YOU way of making pasta is often referred to as pasta Del Cornuto ā€“ which translates as ā€œcuckoldā€™s pastaā€,
The even more popular way of serving pasta Alfredo in the US ā€“ with chicken ā€“ is beyond imaginable.
It is not just poultry and pasta that are not allowed to mix ā€“ meat and pasta very rarely make it on to the same plate. Pasta is one course (primo) and meat is another, fully separate course (secondo).
