Steakhouses are shooting themselves in the foot, imo. When I go out I expect a better quality cut and/or preparation than I can do myself. The last time I went to a steakhouse (The Keg), I ordered a simple surf and turf and the steak to be slightly rarer than medium rare. What I got was a well done steak to the point of tar and lobster tail so overcooked it was like a rubber ball. I could tell the lobster tail was dropped into a pot of boiling water from a frozen state and was asked to pay $50 for that garbage..

There really is nothing new to do to a steak. They’re easy to cook. Fine restaurants usually have a selection or two on the menu, but all the innovation and creativity are with other proteins or cuts. Nothing new has happened to a steak in 120 years.

Nobody can tell you what a great-tasting steak or any other dish is unless you try it and make that decision yourself. The ultimate proof is a blindfold tasting test. When the so-called wine connoisseurs have been subjected to it, half of them haven't been able to reliably distinguish between the twenty-dollar-per-bottle and expensive vintages.

  • ディアスジェレミー on November 29, 2018

It's because soft advocates that care for animals and not their own race (Humans) caused Steakhouses to die out quick.

I only have steak a few times a year and even then I make sure its humanely slaughtered. You can still eat meat and be a good human being about it. Plus steak is not the only food out there, we have a whole globe of delightful delicacies!

Because 35 dollars before tax for a mediocre steak that is poorly cooked isn't worth it

  • larrysheetmetal on November 29, 2018

I would think it had more to do with the $10 side ? A $ 10 baked potato, $10 salad ,$40 to $60 dollar 6oz. steak for 4 plus cocktail drink/ with dinner dessert, tip, taxes, parking fee for a about a $15 /hr avg working class wage earners in the USA . Yelp I can see why they 're few and far between except for the MC Donald type restaurants
